God’s Strengthening Word: Singing for JoySample

Introduction
John 2:1–12: At a wedding in Cana in Galilee, Jesus performs his first miracle (or sign) by changing water into wine. John’s Gospel records seven miracles that Jesus performed, and each one points to him as the true Messiah, the Son of God.
Today’s Key Verse: John 2:11 GNT
Jesus performed this first miracle in Cana in Galilee; there he revealed his glory, and his disciples believed in him.
Reflect
What does Jesus’s mother say to him (verse 3)? How does Jesus respond (verse 4)? When Jesus says his “time has not yet come,” is he referring to the time of his death and his resurrection, when his true glory as God’s Son will be recognized? (Some translations render this passage as “my hour has not yet come.”) What does Jesus tell the servants to do (verses 7–8)? Is their action one of faith? Why or why not?
Pray
Lord Jesus, you have revealed your glory, and I believe that you are the Messiah, the Son of God. In your holy name, I pray. Amen.
Tomorrow’s Reading
Zechariah 9:9–17: A righteous king will come to rule God’s people.
