How do you guard yourself against idolatry?
Idols can be people, places, or things. It is anything you desire the most in your life. In Ephesus, the temple of Diana was an idol. Paul courageously proclaimed the living God to the idol worshipers, pointing them to the true God. In our Old Testament reading, David found enlightenment in God’s creation and Word, declaring, “The heavens declare the glory of God” (Psalm 19:1 NKJV) and “The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul” (Psalm 19:7 NKJV). David recognized the great reward in obeying God’s commandments (Psalm 19:11).
What are some idols you have in your life? Your job? A relationship? The desire to spend all your time relaxing? Please use God’s Word to guard your heart against idolatry.
