Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two

DAY 188 OF 365

Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution (2 Timothy 3:12 NKJV).

Do you view the Christian life as a playground or battleground?

Jesus suffered greatly for our sins, enduring separation from God and physical pain (Matthew 27:46). In today’s reading, Paul, following Jesus' example, returned to minister in Lystra even after being stoned there (Acts 14:19, 21). Suffering for Jesus demonstrates our faith. As a pastor, here are three practical applications I want to share with you:

  1. Prepare spiritually for hardships by deepening your prayer life.
  2. Support fellow believers who are suffering for their faith. Take time to encourage them by your words and actions.
  3. Share stories of perseverance and faith during difficult times to inspire others.

Employment Point: Expect to experience suffering when you live a godly existence for Jesus.

About this Plan

Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two

Devotions on F.I.R.E. journeys through the Bible in one year. Each day includes a devotion based on Dr. Burge’s F.I.R.E. method of Bible Study. F.I.R.E. stands for Familiarity, Interpretation, Relationship, and Employment. The F.I.R.E. method and the daily devotions help readers remember and apply what they read as they fuel the fire in their hearts for God’s Word—adapted from the book Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two, by Dr. Ken J. Burge, Sr.
