Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two

DAY 140 OF 365

As we have borne the image of the man of dust, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly Man (1 Corinthians 15:49 NKJV).

Who are the two most important men in all of history?

The Answer: Adam and Jesus. First Chronicles 1–9 traces the royal line of David, starting with Adam. Luke's genealogy begins with Jesus (Luke 3:23) and traces back to Adam (Luke 3:38). Adam, our representative, brought sin into the world. Paul explains, “Just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned” (Romans 5:12 NKJV).

Jesus succeeded where Adam failed. Paul continues, “For if by the one man’s offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ” (Romans 5:17 NKJV). Today, you have a choice. You can act like Adam and be controlled by your flesh, or you can be like Jesus and experience victory! The choice is up to you.

Employment Point: Believe in Jesus, who conquered sin and death on your behalf.

About this Plan

Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two

Devotions on F.I.R.E. journeys through the Bible in one year. Each day includes a devotion based on Dr. Burge’s F.I.R.E. method of Bible Study. F.I.R.E. stands for Familiarity, Interpretation, Relationship, and Employment. The F.I.R.E. method and the daily devotions help readers remember and apply what they read as they fuel the fire in their hearts for God’s Word—adapted from the book Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two, by Dr. Ken J. Burge, Sr.
