Move People Through God AloneSample

Move People Through God Alone

DAY 7 OF 12

God has his own will and conditions

There comes a point where we must stop placing our trust in people, circumstances, or anything that might help us. We need to arrive at a place where we rest in God and trust Him alone. We must live in holy dependence on God while maintaining complete independence from the world.

God can only be moved on His own terms and for His own purposes. We should not approach Him with the mindset that if He does not answer, we will keep a backup plan ready to implement if prayer does not "work." We must not have a Plan B, just in case God cannot or will not help. When we come to God in prayer, we should do so because there is no other option—because it is God's first and only option for us.

We all encounter situations where no human solutions remain. Many believe it is irresponsible or foolish to leave our problems to prayer alone. In such moments, our hearts are often filled with unbelief and hopelessness. How often do we pray about matters we already believe will not happen?

The missionary J. O. Fraser writes, "I believe that God is often already at work in someone's life before they have even heard the message. It is a work that happens quietly and unnoticed. It takes place in the spiritual realm."

A. B. Simpson wrote about seeking hope in seemingly hopeless situations: "We read in Acts 12:4-5 that after Herod had arrested Peter, he was guarded by four squads of four soldiers each, while the church was earnestly praying to God for him. Consider the impact of this event on the early church. Everything appeared to be going wrong for them. Herod had executed James by the sword, Peter was imprisoned, the Jews seemed to hold the upper hand over the church, Herod was in control, and the arena of martyrdom awaited the apostle's blood the next morning. But take note of these words: So "Peter was kept in prison, but the church was fervently praying to God for him'"(Acts 12:5; BSB). Now observe the outcome: the prison doors opened, and Peter's chains fell off. There is more: "But the word of God continued to spread and multiply" (Acts 12:24; BSB). To what can we attribute all this? 'The church was earnestly praying.'"

About this Plan

Move People Through God Alone

So often, we are confronted with situations where we feel completely powerless. We tried everything, but there is just no breakthrough. In such situations, we need to understand that it is possible to move people through God by prayer alone. Too often, we want to lend God a hand. Throw yourself on God - He is able.
