WE SHALL NOT DIE - Reading With the People of God #17

DAY 60 OF 61

REMEMBER WHO YOU BELONG TO

"Last night an angel of the God to whom I belong and whom I serve stood beside me"

Acts 27:23 (NIV)

An Important question to be asked of each of us today... How would you describe your relationship with God? Now, there are many ways to answer this question, but look at how the apostle Paul describes his relationship with God to those who are with him on the boat. When describing God, he calls Him the God to whom he belongs and the God to whom he serves. God doesn’t belong to him, he belongs to God. And God does not serve him, but he serves God. And he makes it clear that he does not serve to earn anything from God. In fact, the ESV translates this word as “Worship”. The idea is that Paul serves God Worshipfully. He is describing his God not as a tyrant that he must serve out of fear, but one that he serves out of gratitude and out of acknowledging His greatness. King Hezekiah was learning this lesson also, as you will see as you read. So if you want to live differently today, remember to whom you belong and remember to worshipfully serve Him!

About this Plan

WE SHALL NOT DIE - Reading With the People of God #17

In this 17th installment of Reading with the People of God, we continue following a lectionary rhythm—Old Testament, New Testament, and Psalms. This plan explores the prophetic voices of Micah, Habakkuk, and Isaiah, who confronted kings and warned of coming judgment while pointing to the hope of the Messiah. Alongside these, we'll read from the Gospel of Luke and the book of Acts, tracing the life of Christ and the birth of the Church. As we read these powerful passages in parallel, may the Spirit shape us and grow us in Christ together.
