David wrote this psalm in the wilderness, away from comfort and security. Even in a dry and desperate place, his heart was set on God. It is easy to seek God when things are going well, but what about when life feels barren or overwhelming? Like David, we are invited to long for God more than solutions, more than comfort, more than anything else. When we seek Him earnestly, we find Him, even in the driest seasons.
Take five minutes today to be still, remove distractions, and speak honestly with God. Let your heart return to its first love.
Prayer:
God, I confess that I often look to other things to satisfy my soul. But today, I turn my eyes to You. I want to long for You like David did. Meet me in the dry places and fill me with Your presence again. Amen.
