When You’re Excluded and UninvitedSample

Tame Your Emotions
Your emotions are real, but they don’t always tell the whole truth. Anger, frustration, jealousy, or fear can rise up quickly—but just because you feel something doesn’t mean you should act on it. Learning to tame your emotions isn’t about ignoring them; it’s about leading them with wisdom.
The quicker I’ve responded to sharp emotions, the more I’ve regretted it. In the moment, it feels right to speak up, clap back, or prove a point—but later, I’ve had to apologize for words I can’t take back or actions that didn’t reflect who I truly want to be.
It’s easy to react in the heat of the moment, but there’s strength in restraint. The strongest person isn’t the loudest in the room—it’s the one who has the power to respond with patience and self-control.
Every emotion is an opportunity: either to give in or to grow in character. When you slow down and ask, “What’s really going on in me?”, you invite wisdom into the situation. Choosing to tame your emotions is choosing maturity over impulse. It’s not weakness—it’s a mark of growth.
You are not a prisoner to your feelings. You have the ability—and the responsibility—to lead them well.
Respond to God’s Word:
Think of a moment recently when your emotions got the best of you. What could you have done differently? Write down one practical way you can pause and respond with wisdom next time. Slow down—let grace lead, not impulse.
