NOAH: A Message of Faithfulness

DAY 5 OF 7

Trust God To Provide

Human beings are undeniably needy creatures. But have you ever paused to consider that this isn’t a flaw—it’s by divine design? God never intended for us to live in isolation or self-sufficiency. From the very beginning, we were created to be dependent on God. While we are called to be responsible and wise with what we have, the truth is, we were never meant to meet our deepest needs on our own.

And that truth, while humbling, is also incredibly freeing.

When we recognize our dependence, we can experience the richness of God’s provision. When we stop striving to be our own source, we make room for the Source of all life to meet us exactly where we are. God isn’t just a provider of our physical necessities—food, water, shelter, and clothing. He is the One who satisfies our need for connection, belonging, love, and purpose through a relationship with Him and others.

Jesus spoke with unmistakable clarity in the Sermon on the Mount: if you belong to Him, you will never go without what you truly need, even if you may not get what you want. Our Father in heaven knows exactly what we need before we even ask.

God’s will for each of us is clear: to love Him with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength, and to love our neighbors as ourselves. He calls us to go into all the world and make disciples, to reflect His light in every corner of our lives. And when He gives us specific assignments—through our families, our careers, our communities—He also provides the strength, wisdom, and resources to carry them out.

This was the case with Noah. He wasn’t handed a miracle in full form—he was given a divine blueprint and a task so vast, so beyond human comprehension, it might have felt like madness. The instructions were clear, but the execution? That was left to calloused hands, aching muscles, and relentless faith. God did not cut down a single tree for the ark. The Lord did not shape the timbers or drive a single peg. Instead, He extended an invitation—to trust, to labor, to participate in something holy.

Now imagine being his wife, sons, or daughters in law - the weight of years—decades stacking one upon the other—while the skies remained clear and the world mocked. One hundred long years passed between God’s command and the next divine word. One hundred years of sawing wood, hauling beams, facing scoffs, silences, and the uncertainty of where the next resource would come from. They never heard God’s voice or instructions like Noah did, but they saw God’s provision daily. Even if it was never too much, but just enough.

Surely, there were days when doubt crept in. When supplies dwindled and questions outnumbered answers. And yet, when the needs arose—when hunger, fatigue, or fear whispered temptations to quit—Noah and his family returned to the one thing that never changed: God's word. What God had spoken once was enough for them to trust that He would provide again. The day when the animals arrived must have felt like a dream. The sound of drums in the sky, while terrifying, must have held some satisfaction. The slam of the ark door by God’s active and providing hand, must have reverberated through their bones.

Like Noah and his family, we may be called into situations that feel far beyond our capabilities. But just as God was faithful to Noah, He will be faithful to you. He will provide what you need to fulfill what He’s asked of you. Maybe not all at once. Maybe not in the way you expect. But always in the right time and in the right measure.

Lean into your neediness—embrace your weakness. His power is made perfect in it. Let your dependence drive you into deeper trust. Because our God is not just a provider; He is the Giver of every good and perfect gift. And He is able to do “exceedingly, abundantly above all you could ask or imagine, according to His power at work within you.”
