True Success: Live and Lead Without Losing Your Soul

DAY 5 OF 5

You may remember the story from Day 1. The team had scrambled and worked. Chopped and cut. Sweat, slept, then woke up and did it all again.

When we left them, they were moving quickly, working hard, but going nowhere.

But by that point, the leader was too tired to turn around.

What if the story had gone differently?

What if the leader had paused to ask God for his definition of success? What if he had asked for God’s plan, God’s path, God’s pace?

They may have started later. Their progress might have seemed slower and their efforts less impressive than those of the other crews clearing jungles nearby.

But their steps would have been directed by God himself.

They would have cared for one another as much as they cared about the goal.

And instead of racing ahead at breakneck speed, they would have moved through each day at God’s pace of grace.

If that had been their journey, the end would have been more than just checking off another accomplishment.

It would have been a story of transformation.

Because when we do God's will, in God's way, and in God's time, we do not simply get the job done.

We are changed in the process.

This is the shape of Jesus’ life.

He did nothing apart from the Father's will. He moved through the world with love, grace, and compassion. And he trusted God’s timing completely, even when the road led down into suffering and death.

When it looked like everything had failed, heaven’s clock struck resurrection.

That is the pattern.
That is the pace.
That is the only success that lasts.

Let’s remind ourselves of the path we’ve been invited to follow:

  • Do God's will.
  • In God's way.
  • In God's time.

This kind of success may seem hidden, humble, or hard in the middle of the journey. It may look slower compared to those around you. But when God completes the work through you, it will bear more fruit, bring more peace, and reflect more of his glory than all the striving in the world ever could.

We really can live and lead without losing our souls. Because God's success is never about what we can build on our own.

It is about what he builds in us and through us as we follow him.

Prayer
Father, I want to follow Jesus all the way. Teach me to seek your will above my own, to walk in love instead of striving, and to trust your perfect timing, even when it feels slow. Form your heart in me, and let my life bring you glory. That is the success I want most of all.
