The Power of WordsSample

We have considered the power of words on our life and how they show what we truly are. But we must now consider the power of our words on others. There are many deeply broken people around us that were so broken by the words of others. Almost everyone of us understand that the words of others can have a great impact on us either negatively or positively. So many offences and pain have been caused by those who wielded the power of words upon them negatively. And there are many people who have soared as eagles from pain and failure through the words of good people around them.
Our Bible passage gives us a godly perspective to the use of words; it is that we must see our words as a tool that can build up people. If words are powerful, and indeed, they are undoubtedly, we must use it to build those broken and in need around us. Our words ought to give grace. We must practice speaking graciously to people.
Let it be known that we do not mean that we ought not to correct or show people their wrongs, for that would be equally as wrong as speaking evil to them. In building others with our words we are enjoined to also correct and show erring ones their wrongs but we must do so in love and in the spirit of humility.
