The Gospel of MatthewSample

Stay Off “Do Not Disturb”
One day, my wife brought me her phone and said it wasn’t working. She told me it wouldn’t ring when people called, and she was missing important calls. As I looked at it, I realized it wasn’t broken—it was just on “Do Not Disturb.” The phone was doing exactly what it was told to do: stay silent. She didn’t even realize she had set it that way.
I wonder how many times we do the same thing in our relationship with God. We unintentionally silence His voice—by staying too busy, ignoring His Word, or allowing fear or pride to take over. Then we wonder why we’re not getting direction. We open doors we were never meant to walk through and say yes to things we should have refused.
In Matthew 2, Joseph receives a second dream from God—this time warning him to flee with Mary and Jesus to Egypt. Because Joseph kept his heart in a place of obedience and attentiveness, he could hear and respond when God spoke.
Respond to God’s Word
Check your heart today. Is it set to “Do Not Disturb”? Ask the Lord to help you remove distractions and restore a listening posture to receive His guidance.
