Strengthened by Grace: A Journey Through 1 & 2 PeterSample

Introduction to 1 Peter
Life can be challenging, especially when we face trials, opposition, or uncertainty. But as followers of Christ, we are not without hope. The apostle Peter wrote his first letter to a group of Christians scattered across Asia Minor (modern-day Turkey), many of whom were experiencing persecution for their faith. In this study, we will journey through 1 Peter, discovering what it means to live as people of hope in a world that often feels unstable.
Peter’s letter is written to exiles—both literal and spiritual—believers who were strangers in their own land because of their faith in Christ. They were a mix of Jewish and Gentile Christians, navigating a world that rejected them for following Jesus. Yet Peter encourages them to stand firm, reminding them that their true home is not in this world but in God’s eternal kingdom. He calls them to holiness, love, and endurance, urging them to reflect Christ even in suffering. His words are just as relevant today as they were then, reminding us that no matter what we face, we are held by God’s grace.
Throughout this reading plan, we will explore themes of suffering, identity, and perseverance. Peter teaches us that trials are not meaningless but refining, shaping us into the image of Christ. He reminds us that we are chosen, called to be different, and that our faith is anchored in a hope that will never fade.
We encourage you to invite a friend or your Life Group and journey through this plan together! It’s always encouraging to explore Scripture together and share what God is teaching you. Plus, having others by your side can bring fresh perspectives and deeper insights!
Before we begin, take a few minutes to watch this overview of 1 Peter by the Bible Project: Watch Here.
This video will provide a deeper understanding of the book’s background, themes, and message.
As we walk through 1 Peter together, may we be strengthened in our faith, encouraged in our trials, and reminded that in Christ, we have a living hope that can never be taken away.
