Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year OneSample

And He came and preached peace to you who were afar off and to those who were near (Ephesians 2:17).
Do you know that Jesus proclaims the gospel through the lips of the saints?
The church of Ephesus consisted mainly of Gentiles. They are the ones Paul characterizes as “afar off.” Unlike the Jews, Gentiles traditionally were not exposed to the Old Testament teachings. On the other hand, Paul describes the Jews as “those who were near”. The apostle to the Gentiles explains how privileged the Jews are from Romans 9:4. He writes, “who are Israelites, to whom pertain the adoption, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the service of God, and the promises”. Whether to Jews or Gentiles, Jesus speaks to them when we herald the good news about His death and resurrection. We need to seek opportunities to have Him speak through us!
Employment Point: Represent the Prince of Peace by having Him share the gospel of peace through you.
About this Plan

Devotions on F.I.R.E. journeys through the Bible in one year. Each day includes a devotion based on Dr. Burge’s F.I.R.E. method of Bible Study. F.I.R.E. stands for Familiarity, Interpretation, Relationship, and Employment.
