We are full of praise and thanks to God as we mark the occasion of Bible Society Australia’s bicentenary with a National Celebration of the Bible. It is a testimony to the truth of this verse that the Bible Society remains the oldest continuously operating organisation in Australia. The word that issues forth from God’s mouth hits its mark. It is effectual, it fulfils the task given it by the divine speaker, and it accomplishes what he desires. The waters of heaven make the sower’s efforts worthwhile, and the image of the sower is a guiding metaphor for Bible Society’s work.
