If we don't listen well, how can we get our instructions from God? Listening intentionally allows us to receive all that God has for us. We are called not only to listen, but to obey to be totally surrendered to God. Jim Elliot, in his book Shadow of the Almighty, said, 'One does not surrender a life in an instant; that which is lifelong can only be surrendered in a lifetime.' Do you fully trust God? I didn't for a long time, and there are still areas today where I depend on myself more than putting my trust in God. As you read the following passage, strive with me to wholly rely on Him: 'Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight' (Proverbs 3:5-6).
