River Valley Church SOAP - Part 10

DAY 31 OF 31

The trial and execution of Jesus are now recorded in Luke’s gospel account. Pilate was known for his cruelty and malice towards the Jews. Herod wanted to see Jesus only as a form of entertainment, as most of Jesus’ ministry was in the land Herod oversaw and yet he never had any intentions to see Jesus prior. The death of Jesus was horrific and bloody, and we know by accounts of crucifixion customs that Jesus suffered greatly. As the women went to visit the tomb of Jesus three days later, this proved that disciples did not steal away Jesus’ body since the disciples heard that Jesus was no longer in the tomb only after the women told them. Jesus ascended into heaven 40 days after His resurrection, blessing His disciples to carry His message around the world.
