Reading: Matthew Chapter 10 

Devotional: When Jesus hand-picked His disciples, He didn’t use criteria based on their public speaking, professional or social abilities, nor on their popularity or accomplishments, but on their availability to follow Him with no hesitation. The same challenge of following Jesus is as real to us today as it was to the disciples – we are called to walk with Him and tell the world about Him. But we are a bit afraid, aren’t we? We are afraid of people, of what they are going to believe about us, of what they are going to talk about us, of how they are going to react. We are afraid because we are not so sure we are always going to know what to say and we do not want to be embarrassed. The encouragement, though, comes from the reality that He is with us every step of the way, that all things are under His control, including our lives. We are his representatives on earth and our reward will be of great measure. So courage, dear heart!
