Plan Info
God's StorySample
God has been writing an epic story since the beginning of time. It starts with God’s creation of the world, quickly descends into chaos with our Fall, finds its climax in the Redemption offered through Jesus, and culminates in God’s Restoration of the world.
This reading plan is designed to take you through the highlights of that story. Most weeks have five days per week of reading, although a couple of the weeks have readings on six days. You can use the other two days of the week to catch up if you are behind.
In the beginning of the plan you'll find some introductory material to help you better understand the Bible, but after that there will be very little devotional content. The focus is on allowing you to engage with the Bible directly.
For most of us, life seems like a movie we have arrived at 45 minutes late… We find ourselves in the middle of a story that is sometimes wonderful, sometimes awful, often a confusing mixture of both, and we haven’t a clue how to make sense of it all. It’s like we’re holding in our hands some pages torn out of a book. These pages are the days of our lives. Fragments of a story. They seem important, or at least we long to know they are, but what does it all mean? If only we could find the book that contains the rest of the story.
—John Eldredge, Epic
This first week's readings are all about creation and primeval history.
After reading, spend a couple of minutes reflecting on or journaling about the following questions:
What does this teach us about God’s character?
How does this reading impact your life or view of the world?
