Jesus is the perfect thirst quencher for your soul
“If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, “Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.”
The answer to my thirstiness is Jesus. The answer to my thirstiness is not more money. It is not a bigger house. It is not a different job. It is not marriage, or a better marriage, or children, friends, or health. It is not that these are not good things. Some are very good things, but they won’t quench my thirst. Only Jesus can do that.
Only Jesus can quench my deepest longings. “If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink.”
If I need love, the answer is Jesus. If I need security, the answer is Jesus. If I need forgiveness, acceptance, power, freedom, significance, comfort, peace, or anything else, the answer is Jesus.
“If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink.”
Jesus will quench my thirst. Not just with water, but with streams of living water. Ever-flowing, ever-bubbling, and ever-refreshing streams of living water, for Jesus gives me his Spirit.
That’s right! The Spirit of God, God himself, on the inside, quenching my thirst, giving me life, satisfying my longings, and flowing inside me.
Ah! I need that water, Jesus. Fill me with that water, Jesus. Let the river flow.
