DAY 145 OF 366

Jesus cries from the cross - "Family"

Family is at the heart of God’s purposes for His relationship with humanity.  Even though Adam was in intimate relationship with God, “The Lord God said, ‘It is not good for the man to be alone’” (Gen.2:18). Adam needed not just animals but people around him to fully experience the paradise God had provided.  The Bible even promises that God will establish the lonely in families (Psalm 68:5-6).

The OT refers almost exclusively to our Creator as “God” but Jesus introduced Him as a Father who cares for us and to whom we should pray. In Eph.3:14-15 Paul speaks of God as the Father of the whole family in heaven and earth. This concept is heightened by references to other believers as “brothers and sisters” (e.g. 1 Tim.5:1-2).

When we become a Christian we do not become a statistical number in an organisation but a member of a family of believers who genuinely love and support each other. God becomes our Father in heaven and we become his child (Rom.8:15-17). Even on the cross of suffering, Jesus concern was for family as He took the time to establish His bereaved mother in a family and He will do the same for you.

Prayer: I thank you Lord that You are my Father and You have placed me in a family of brothers and sisters

About this Plan

Together - Daily Devotional

We have created TOGETHER – a Daily Devotional to help us as a community and you as an individual grow in your relationship with God. Every month we will explore different themes and deepen our understanding of Bible. We’re looking forward to doing this TOGETHER with our church.
