Together - Daily Devotional

DAY 136 OF 366

Greatest love

Continuing yesterday’s thought of God being our companion we read today that Jesus calls us His friends.  A dictionary defines a friend as: “one attached to another by intimacy and affection – one on the same side – a sympathiser”.  Jesus is not against us for our sin – Jesus is on our side and for us against our sin!  We do not have to attain a level of purity to know Him because Jesus befriends us in our darkest moments.  In fact Jesus was criticised just because He associated with the perceived dregs of society such as despised prostitutes and hated tax collectors (Luke 7:33-50).

Paul the Apostles explains that we were all sinners separated from God and enemies of Him in the way we thought and behaved.  Someone might risk and even sacrifice their life for a good person but God clearly demonstrated the greatness of His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Jesus died for us (Rom.5:6-8).

We are all so precious to Him that Jesus willingly died for us and is pleased to be known as the friend of sinners (Luke 7:34).

The reason for Easter is the fact that we are loved by God!

Prayer: I praise You Jesus that You have proved beyond doubt that You are my loving friend

About this Plan

Together - Daily Devotional

We have created TOGETHER – a Daily Devotional to help us as a community and you as an individual grow in your relationship with God. Every month we will explore different themes and deepen our understanding of Bible. We’re looking forward to doing this TOGETHER with our church.
