JEHOVAH ROPHE

From beginning to end the Bible contains story after story of God bringing healing to people and situations from raising the dead to making barren land fertile. Without question, He is a God who heals. In the Old Testament God’s supernatural healing appeared to be limited (Luke 4:24-27). But in the New Testament Jesus ushered in a new day of God’s healing power when He, “healed all the sick” (Matt.8:16). This continued throughout the book of Acts, especially with Peter and Paul through whom “God did extraordinary miracles” (Acts 19:11).

Some say that God’s gifts of healing were only evident for the purpose of establishing the newly formed church and expired with the death of the apostles. Certainly the subject of supernatural healing causes controversy in the modern church but even Jesus was unable to perform many miracles because of people’s unbelief (Mark 6:4-6). Faith and trust in God activates His promises whether that is salvation, blessings or healing and without faith even God’s abilities may be limited (Heb.4:1-2) . Healing is by faith (Mark 5:34) and faith comes from hearing God’s word (Rom.10:17, Acts 14:8-10). Let’s believe God is still JEHOVAH ROPHE by praying healing for ourselves and others.
