JEHOVAH KANNA

JEHOVAH KANNA is a lesser known name of God but it contains an important faith building aspect of His character. It is often assumed that jealousy is a negative trait. Certainly when we talk about envy of the possessions and achievements of others it is a trait to be avoided. However pure jealousy is something different.  It relates to an exclusive devotion based on a deep personal relationship.

Perhaps a good illustration would be the plot of the film Taken starring Liam Neeson. He plays a former CIA operative named Bryan Mills who sets about tracking down his teenage daughter Kim and her best friend Amanda after the two girls are kidnapped by Albanian human traffickers for sexual slavery while traveling in France. In the context of today’s topic, Mills is jealous for his daughter and her future. It is that passion that spurs him to travel continents and face death in his commitment to rescue and restore his daughter from a life of misery.

God is jealous for us and He has travelled from heaven to earth, even facing death on the cross to rescue us from the evil forces that hold us captive. Thank God He is jealous!
