Burning for Jesus
We all deliver a message. We are walking messages. People are continuously trying to figure us out. What does he or she believe? What are his or her interests, values, and desires? We broadcast the answers to these questions all the time by even our smallest behaviors and attitudes.
If you're burning for Jesus, your message is that Jesus is the answer to these questions. People will see the spirit of Jesus in your small actions, perhaps that you offer a cup of coffee, you agree to clean up a mess left by others, or you maintain a sweet disposition in the face of another's rudeness.
Let's be clear: the spirit of Jesus is not the spirit of "people-pleasing" out of co-dependency. We please people because a God-Spirit is "pleasing" to behold. It is a spirit of love, peace, harmony, and encouragement. We also set and defend proper limits against abuse.
Also, we are not robots programmed into miniature Jesus'. We are active collaborators in bringing the good news of God's reconciliation. So, Paul in verse 33 states that our conscious goal is to serve God's purpose that other's may be healed and restored to God.
