Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Twoਨਮੂਨਾ

I am as strong this day as on the day that Moses sent me (Joshua 14:11 NKJV).
Where do you derive your power and purpose?
At the age of eighty-five, Caleb approached Joshua, ready to conquer a particular mountain held by the enemy. He said, "I am as strong this day as on the day that Moses sent me" (Joshua 14:11 NKJV). His strength did not come from his age but from his deep connection with the Lord. Caleb had faithfully followed the Lord throughout his life, and as a result, he was promised an inheritance by Moses (Joshua 14:9). His obedience and faith in God’s Word set him apart from his peers, earning him a blessing from Joshua (Joshua 14:13–14).
Like Caleb, Jesus embodied devotion to the Father. Despite pressure from others to stay in one place, Jesus focused on His mission to preach the kingdom of God (Luke 4:43). His daily prayer life with the Father kept Him aligned with His purpose and direction.
As you navigate your Christian life, learn from the examples of Caleb and Jesus. By wholly following the Lord, you too can find strength to carry out your life’s mission.
Employment Point: Wholly follow the Lord to receive strength and guidance.

About this Plan

Devotions on F.I.R.E. journeys through the Bible in one year. Each day includes a devotion based on Dr. Burge’s F.I.R.E. method of Bible Study. F.I.R.E. stands for Familiarity, Interpretation, Relationship, and Employment. The F.I.R.E. method and the daily devotions help readers remember and apply what they read as they fuel the fire in their hearts for God’s Word—adapted from the book Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two, by Dr. Ken J. Burge, Sr.
