Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Twoਨਮੂਨਾ

And you shall remember that the LORD your God led you all the way these forty years in the wilderness, to humble you and test you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep His commandments or not (Deuteronomy 8:2 NKJV).
How can Christians demonstrate love to a God they cannot see or touch?
In today’s reading, Jesus said, “Love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. This is the first commandment” (Mark 12:30 NKJV). Essentially, you are called to love God with everything you possess. Our Creator, though unseen, desires your wholehearted love. He formed and fashioned each of us, expecting nothing less than total loyalty.
Yet our God is invisible. What tangible or visible way can you display that you fully love Him? Jesus continues, “And the second, like it, is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself’” (Mark 12:31 NKJV). The word “like” suggests equality. By loving our visible neighbors, we physically express our love for the invisible God.
Employment Point: Demonstrate your love for the invisible God by loving your visible neighbor.
About this Plan

Devotions on F.I.R.E. journeys through the Bible in one year. Each day includes a devotion based on Dr. Burge’s F.I.R.E. method of Bible Study. F.I.R.E. stands for Familiarity, Interpretation, Relationship, and Employment. The F.I.R.E. method and the daily devotions help readers remember and apply what they read as they fuel the fire in their hearts for God’s Word—adapted from the book Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two, by Dr. Ken J. Burge, Sr.
