Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two

DAY 61 OF 365

He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son (Romans 8:29 NKJV).

Are you gradually maturing and becoming more like Jesus each day?

In today's passage, Jesus reveals His glory to three disciples—Peter, James, and John—accompanied by two powerful Old Testament figures: Moses (the one who received God’s Law) and Elijah (one of the best-known prophets of Israel). Mark vividly depicts the transfiguration: "His clothes became shining, exceedingly white, like snow, such as no launderer on earth can whiten them" (Mark 9:3 NKJV). Here, Jesus, the Son of Man, unveils His majestic glory to His disciples. Jesus, the eternal Son of God, possessed greater glory than both the Law and the Prophets combined.

As Peter, James, and John walked with Jesus, they began to mirror His glory, expressing His love, compassion, and humility. Today, through prayer, the study of Scripture, obedience to the Lord, and service in the church, you should cultivate a deeper relationship with God, allowing His power to mold you into His likeness by reflecting His glory.

Employment Point: Daily walk with Jesus to display His glory.

About this Plan

Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two

Devotions on F.I.R.E. journeys through the Bible in one year. Each day includes a devotion based on Dr. Burge’s F.I.R.E. method of Bible Study. F.I.R.E. stands for Familiarity, Interpretation, Relationship, and Employment. The F.I.R.E. method and the daily devotions help readers remember and apply what they read as they fuel the fire in their hearts for God’s Word—adapted from the book Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two, by Dr. Ken J. Burge, Sr.
