Raising Kingdom-Minded Children in a Broken World - 30-Day Devotional

DAY 5 OF 30

Day 5 – Establishing Family Altars

Scripture: “But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” – Joshua 24:15 (NIV)

Reflection

Every family builds habits and traditions that shape their home. As Christian parents, we are called to create a culture where God is honored. In the Bible, altars were places of prayer, worship, and remembering God’s faithfulness. A family altar today can be as simple as a consistent time of prayer, reading scripture together, or singing worship songs as a family.

It does not need to be perfect or formal. What matters is consistency. These small, repeated practices build a spiritual foundation that lasts. Long after our children leave our homes, they will carry with them the memory that God’s presence was central to family life.

Biblical Affirmation for Your Children

“Our home is a place where God is honored and His Word is lived out.”

Prayer

Father, I dedicate my home to You. Help me to build rhythms of prayer, worship, and scripture that center our family on Your presence. May our household be known as one that serves You with joy. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Action Step for Parents

Choose one family practice to begin or strengthen this week, such as a short prayer time before bed or a verse at the dinner table.
