Good friend, take to heart what I’m telling you; collect my counsels and guard them with your life. Tune your ears to the world of Wisdom; set your heart on a life of Understanding. That’s right—if you make Insight your priority, and won’t take no for an answer, Searching for it like a prospector panning for gold, like an adventurer on a treasure hunt, Believe me, before you know it Fear-of-GOD will be yours; you’ll have come upon the Knowledge of God.

So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, And apply thine heart to understanding

Make your ear attentive to wisdom, Incline your heart to understanding

Listen carefully to wisdom; set your mind on understanding.

So as to incline thine ear unto wisdom, And apply thy heart to understanding

So that you incline your ear to wisdom, And apply your heart to understanding

So that your ear is attentive to [skillful and godly] wisdom, And apply your heart to understanding [seeking it conscientiously and striving for it eagerly]

Tune your ears to wisdom, and concentrate on understanding.

So train your heart to listen when I speak and open your spirit wide to expand your discernment— then pass it on to your sons and daughters.
