I Chronicles 1:1-4

The Old Testament is divided into thee major parts, the third of which is known as the Writings. The Writings encompass a wide range of genres, traditions, and time periods, including poetry, songs, history, and wisdom literature. This reading plan guides you through the Writings, exploring the theological and literary richness of this part of God's Word. 

Written following their return from exile, Chronicles is a theological retelling of Israel's monarchial history. In this post-exilic season, doubt and apathy plagued God's people and their trust in His promises. The Chronicler responds by reminding Israel of God's faithfulness from Adam to Moses to David and ultimately points toward a Greater David to come.
