TGM: Nick Swan; Giving
2 Corinthians 8:1-9:5
Paul is sending letter in hands of Titus along with others with him.
The grace of generosity flows out of our relationship with our savior
Grace given to us should overflow to others.
They manifest the grace through persecution and severe affliction.
Grace through giving beyond their means willingly.
Begged for taking part in relief of saints.
They freely gave of theiir resources and themselves. Self-surrendered devotion to God. Giving to Christ preceeds giving to others.
WHAT DID MACEDONIANS UNDERSTAND ABOUT GIVING AND GRACE THAT CORINTHIANS DID NOT?
OUR GENEROUS SAVIOR
Though Jesus was rich, yet for your sake he became poor. He went from a King of glory to a slave all for our sake. He humbled himself to death. By his poverty we have become rich.
RICHES WE HAVE GAINED:
We know God and arre known by God. We no longer fear death. He became poor that we might have his riches. They willingly and joyfully recognized Jesus had given all and were willing to giveueverything. KEY IS SEEING CHRIST AND ALL THAT HE HAS DONE FOR US.
HEART OF GENEROSITY
It is not about the amount we give but the heart of what we give. We give freely and joyfully when we see the heart of generosity of wwhy the savioe gave.
Giving our money is a form of worship. Failure to give is a failure to know, love, and understand Christ. Jesus does not desire our checkbooks but our entire hearts. Do I know of Christ's generosity? If so, am I aware of the mercies he has FREELY GIVEN me? After this ask Christ how wwe can give to his mission? CHRIST GAVE EVERYTHING AND AS SUCH WE SHOULD GIVE EVERYTHING!!!
