Seek Firstಮಾದರಿ

Day 2) Tomorrow
How To Trust God With Tomorrow
1) Seek Him Today
“But seek first the kingdom of God…” (Matthew 6:33a ESV)
Worry and anxiety are primarily rooted in a pursuit of anything or anyone other than Jesus Christ. The things we choose to pursue shape our thoughts, and our thoughts, in turn, shape our actions. Pursuing wealth and notoriety causes your mind to be focused on those things, and your hope and happiness will be rooted in the fleeting nature of riches and power. However, when you choose to seek Him first through reading the Bible, praise and worship, engaging in church community and sharing the Gospel with others, His message of hope, life and peace will flood your heart and mind (Phil. 4:6–7).
2) Acknowledge Your Position
“...and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” (Matthew 6:33b ESV)
In the original Greek language, the word righteousness in this verse is transliterated as dikaiosuné (dik-ah-yos-oo'-nay), which is a direct reference to the justification of Christians. Justification is the status, state or position of anyone who has acknowledged their sinfulness and placed their faith in Jesus Christ. In other words, when we place our faith in Jesus, our eternal position is “in Him” (2 Cor. 5:17). This means that when the Father looks at us, He does not see our sin, shame or shortcomings. Rather, He sees His Son, who is forever seated at His right hand. Whatever happens in this tangible world tomorrow, our eternity is secured as sons and daughters of God!
3) Remember His Faithfulness
“Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” (Matthew 6:34 ESV)
The next time you’re tempted to worry about tomorrow, take a moment to reflect on all the yesterdays in which God provided for you. Did worrying about any of those yesterdays have a positive impact once the day arrived? Of course not! Instead, consider the fact that Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever (Heb. 13:8). If He took care of you then, He will take care of you tomorrow.
Big Idea: Trusting God with tomorrow begins by seeking Him today, resting in your identity in Christ and remembering His past faithfulness. When we focus on His kingdom first, worry loses its power over our future.
Let’s Think About This:
Question 1) What are you currently seeking first in your life, and how does that shape your thoughts and decisions about the future?
Question 2) How does understanding your position "in Christ" impact the way you respond to fear or uncertainty?
Question 3) Can you recall a specific time when God provided for you in the past? How does that memory encourage you to trust Him today?

When anxiety attacks, what should be our response? As we continue our trek through the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus gives us the answer in the conclusion of chapter 6: “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” (Matthew 6:33 ESV). In “Seek First”, we’re going to walk through Matthew 6:25–7:11 and take a closer look at four things we’re often tempted to pursue before Jesus. Prayerfully, as we study God’s Word together, our worry will be replaced with a desire to seek Him first!
