LIVING HOPE - Reading With the People of God: Part 18ಮಾದರಿ

Promises
As you read Isaiah Chapter 43 today look for the names, titles, or attributes given to God. This passage is loaded with them. Look also for how God identifies his people. There are several ways He speaks of them. I find a significant statement early on from God to his people. Can you find it? This is one of those “WOW!” statements for me. There are some amazing promises here that God made to His people. Enjoy reading them and believing them for yourself because you have been adopted into His family.
It is uncertain who wrote the “Letter to the Hebrews”, but it's obviously intended for readers of Jewish origin, and there are clues that cause us to think these Jews were living in Italy and not necessarily Palestine. Most of the readers were believers, with some other people professing Christianity without having the heart experiences of knowing Jesus as Savior. The writer of the letter uses many Old Testament quotations (there are at least six passages in chapter one alone), to help the Jewish readers make connections between the promised Messiah of the Old Testament and Jesus of Nazareth. Any non-Jewish folks who would be reading or hearing the letter were getting excellent theology (study of God/YHWH) and Christian instruction/doctrine. I hope you enjoy reading the first chapter of Hebrews today and are able to hear how the Holy Spirit wants to help you apply it to your own life.

In this 18th installment of Reading with the People of God, we follow a lectionary rhythm of Old Testament, New Testament, and Psalms. This plan journeys through Isaiah 40–66, where God speaks comfort, reveals His Servant, and promises new creation. Alongside Isaiah, we read Titus, Philemon, Hebrews, James, and 1and 2 Peter—letters that call us to endurance, holiness, and hope in Christ. Together these readings point us to the living hope we have through the gospel. May the Spirit strengthen our faith and anchor us in God’s everlasting promises.
