Responding To The Holy One OF Israel

Do you ever ask yourself, “Can this get any better?” How blessed I am. Well, we have already had such incredible and powerful readings so far, but today the Word takes it up a notch! When we read Isaiah 55, we will see promises that seem beyond God’s ability to produce because of our sinful world. They will be possible because of God’s royal Davidic Servant. He is the Holy One of Israel. There will be a call to “seek the LORD while He may be found” (Isaiah 55:6 ESV). He’s still seeking today! Will we respond? How do we really know these promises will come true? “So shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it” (Isaiah 55:11 ESV). Family, the Word of God is powerful. Let’s let it loose. Take it off the shelf!

In Hebrews 12 today, a classic passage of Jesus “sitting at the right hand of the throne of God” (Hebrews 12:2 ESV) is our encouragement to endure! We will be challenged with seeing God’s discipline in a positive light, rather than negative. Once again we are called to worship our awesome God with “reverence and awe” (Hebrews 12:28 ESV). Why? Because “our God is a consuming fire (Hebrews 12:29 ESV). Let us not fear the fire today, but desire to draw near. God, we need Your holy presence today. Please remind us that You are not like anyone else we know. You are set apart, wholly other! And because of Jesus, we can come into Your presence to find strength, so we will not grow weary. I hope you start your day with joy and peace!

LIVING HOPE - Reading With the People of God: Part 18

In this 18th installment of Reading with the People of God, we follow a lectionary rhythm of Old Testament, New Testament, and Psalms. This plan journeys through Isaiah 40–66, where God speaks comfort, reveals His Servant, and promises new creation. Alongside Isaiah, we read Titus, Philemon, Hebrews, James, and 1and 2 Peter—letters that call us to endurance, holiness, and hope in Christ. Together these readings point us to the living hope we have through the gospel. May the Spirit strengthen our faith and anchor us in God’s everlasting promises.
