The genealogy of Jesus is His backstory - it is the prequel!

In it we can find lessons from the lives of people and insight into how God sees us.

Facts about His Genealogy:

1. There are 42 generations between Abraham and Jesus in The Gospel of Matthew.

2. Not EVERYONE is listed in His genealogy in Matthew.

3. The genealogy in Matthew and Luke seem to be different.

Experts believe that is for one of 3 reasons:
- Matthew lists His royal/legal lineage and Luke lists His physical/blood lineage.
- Luke lists Mary's genealogy.
- Adoption practices of the day (Levirate Marriage).

4. Both genealogies reveal that Jesus is the miraculously conceived Son of a virgin and is the Heir of the kingdom of David and of the promises of Abraham.

5. Many of the people in the genealogy of Jesus are there for a reason. Their inclusion in this royal line points to revelation that God wants us to have.

Ruth went through a very traumatic and life-changing event: the loss of her husband of 10 years.

However, Ruth was different! Instead of returning to her past, she chose to chase after a future with God.

Beware of letting hard times separate you from God. Instead of blaming Him, run to Him!

God can change EVERYTHING in one day. Today might be the day!

It's not a coincidence that God chose Ruth to be in the lineage of Jesus.

God will turn your tragedy into triumph.

Bathsheba lost her husband and her newborn child, one of the worst tragedies that anyone can face.

David also lost a son but made a decision to not let this tragedy define his life (& helped Bathsheba to as well).

When terrible things happen, it can destroy you - don't let it!

Bathsheba became the mother of the king - AND she is forever in the lineage of Jesus.

What the enemy meant for evil, God will use for your good.

God will not just get you out of trouble and pain, He will turn your tragedy into TRIUMPH!

No matter what tragedy you may have faced or may be facing right now, don't despair - God is a God who can turn it around!

Say "Turn it God!"

He can give you beauty for ashes and joy for mourning. If you stick with Him, your future is still bright!
