The opposite of mastery is mediocrity, and mediocrity is nothing less than a failure of love and a misrepresentation of the image of God. Where are you rooted? Without your sports, who are you? The closer we are to God and the deeper we build our roots in Him and His Word, and the closer we come to being 100%. While this new 100% identity does not come without challenge, God promises never to leave us or forsake us especially when times get tough.

Your spiritual root system can’t survive with shallow roots. We’re to grow deep into God and take seriously the responsibility to produce fruit in God’s kingdom. With all the multiplying distractions in the world, it’s easy to let our roots grow into shallow, self-serving disciplines. To be consistent in our spiritual growth and remain faithful, allow God to develop your roots to reach a deeper level.
