Goodness

Goodness is the last affirming word God speaks when he creates,
naming what he has made as good,
giving shape and identity
to all creation.

When we walk in step with the Spirit,
his goodness grows within us,
springing from the seed
planted in creation’s beginning.

Goodness is not fragile,
but vast and unrelenting.
It confronts the shadows,
pressing back the dark
until only light remains.

Goodness is the storm that saves,
the hand that pulls us
from the waters of despair.

Goodness is the result of salvation,
a fruit borne in our lives,
overflowing from the abundance
God has stored up for his people.
