A Biblical Example – Hannah’s Dedication

“I asked the Lord to give me this boy, and he has granted my request. Now I am giving him to the Lord, and he will belong to the Lord his whole life.” - 1 Samuel 1:27–28

Hannah’s story begins with deep longing. For years, she prayed through tears for a child, trusting that God saw her pain. In time, the Lord answered her prayer and gave her a son - Samuel. True to her promise, Hannah brought Samuel to the temple, presenting him to the Lord as an act of worship and surrender. She recognised that this precious child was not hers to own, but God’s to use for His purpose.

Hannah’s faith reveals the heart behind child dedication today. Like her, we acknowledge that every child is a gift from God, created in His image and entrusted to us for a divine purpose. Dedication is a declaration of partnership - God, may Your Presence fill our home, may Your Word form our hearts, and may Your Mission guide our family.

Hannah reminds us that raising children is one of the most sacred acts of worship. Every moment of guiding, teaching, and loving them becomes an offering of surrender to God. As you raise your child, each prayer whispered, each moment of patience, and each decision to walk in faith is an act of worship that declares, “Lord, this life is Yours.”
