Addiction as a Stronghold

A stronghold in Scripture is a fortified way of thinking or living that resists the knowledge of God.

Addictions, whether to substances, behaviors, or thought patterns, often begin with a habit but eventually become fortified by lies the enemy whispers, like, “you can’t live without this”, “it’s too strong to defeat”, “God doesn’t love you”, or “God won’t deliver you.”

At that point, it’s not just a bad habit, it’s a mental and spiritual fortress that must be torn down by truth, repentance, and renewal.
