The Beauty of Being Adopted
If God’s rescue is what opens the door, His adoption seats us at the table. The Bible doesn’t just say that we were forgiven; it says we received this right to be called children of God (John 1:12). Before creation, the Father predestined us for adoption through Jesus Christ (Ephesians 1:4–5). And then He placed what’s called the Spirit of adoption within us, the same Spirit who bears witness that we are heirs with Christ (Romans 8:14–17; Galatians 4:4–7).
Adoption isn’t some cold legal procedure; it’s the Father rising from the bench, coming down to your level, and whispering your new name. It’s a place reserved at the table, a plate with your name on it, and a chair that no one else can occupy. Adoption is the Father’s hand on your shoulder saying, “You belong here.” He no longer looks at you with suspicion but with delight. It can be a little hard to believe, that’s because it’s an undeserved gift, something you cannot earn on your own. When you come home dirty, you aren’t cast out; you are drawn near, washed, clothed, and given back the family ring. The Father’s house is a true home.
If the Father has adopted you, it means you are no longer a slave; you are a child. You are secure because the Father knows you and keeps you. Your course aligns with His, and you begin to look like the family. You obey, not to earn a last name, but because you already bear it. Discipline no longer frightens you, because you know it is in love that He forms you. Prayer ceases to be a formality and becomes a conversation with Abba. And when you stumble, you no longer hide. You come back home, because your inheritance rests in the grace that adopted you.
If you feel far today, remember: your last name isn’t “failure”; it is Son or Daughter. The Spirit in you is the guarantee that the Father will finish the work He began.
Let’s pray: Abba, thank You for calling me Your child. Anchor my heart with Your Spirit and teach me to live from Your table, with the security and joy of Your family. Amen.
About this Plan

If you were to take a spiritual DNA test today… what would it say? Would it say you’re a child of God or a child of the devil? In 6 days, examine your faith, expose lies, and embrace your adoption in Christ so you can live as a beloved child.
