This is a fantastic plan to follow if you wish to add historical context to your reading of the Bible. If the schedule provided is followed, the entire Bible will be read in one calendar year.

Chronological

As followers to Jesus we’re called to a lifelong discipleship walking in his footsteps. Our greatest asset in this walk is Gods own Word - the Bible. This reading plan guides you through the entire Bible in one year reading every verse, chapter and book one time. You’ll read from OT and NT everyday and a chapter from Psalms or Proverbs every second day.

THE BIBLE in a year

Robust and systematic, Roberts plan guides you through a complete reading of the Old Testament and two complete readings of the New Testament. Readings average four chapters in length and include both Old and New Testament passages each day.

Created by Dr. George Guthrie, this plan takes the material of the Bible and organizes it to flow in chronological order. Since exact dating of some materials or events is not possible, the chronology simply represents an attempt to give you the reader the general flow and development of the Bible's grand story. Some passages are placed according to topic (e.g., John 1:1-3 in Week 1, Day 2; and many of the psalms). There are six readings for each week to give you space for catching up when needed.

Reading God's Story: One-Year Chronological Plan

Have you ever wondered what it would have been like to read the Old Testament in ancient Israel? Or, the New Testament as the books were written? In this plan, the order of the Old Testament readings is very similar to Israel’s Hebrew Bible, progressing from Law to Prophets to Writings. The New Testament ordering is based upon research regarding the order in which the books were authored. Although this research is not conclusive, it may offer helpful insights to your Bible reading.

Historical

It is important to understand the fullness of God’s message to the churches, and a great way of doing this is reading the Old and New Testaments simultaneously. This plan, which can be completed in one calendar year, does just that. Readings from both Testaments are included from the beginning and although each reading does not contain both Testaments, the two are read effectively.
