worship is suffering
I'm always struck by the description of Job's actions upon hearing the news of losing everything. The fact that his response is described as worship is striking.
Our modern day notion of worship is all too often limited to singing songs on a Sunday morning hoping to experience some kimd of emotional rush.
But in this case, it seems that worship is more of an awareness or a posture of the heart that recognizes everything we have is from the Lord. In a sense it is a posture of submission & dependence on God.
So while we do sing songs as an expressions of worship, my question is weather or not those songs shape in us a submission and dependence or do we approach worship songs & worship services thinking its all about me and what god can do for me?
