The Church & Sunday Morning
Heaven will not be boring.
"Heaven begins where sin ends" In heaven there shall be no more sin!!!
"The njoyment of God is the only happiness with which our souls can be satisfied"
Revelation 5:9-14 ESV
And they sang a new song, saying,
"Worthy are you to take the scroll
and to open its seals,
for you were slain, and by your blood you ransomed people for God
from every tribe and language and people and nation,
and you have made them a kingdom and priests to our God,
and they shall reign on the earth."
Then I looked, and I heard around the throne and the living creatures and the elders the voice of many angels, numbering myriads of myriads and thousands of thousands, saying with a loud voice, "Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing!" And I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, and all that is in them, saying, "To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be blessing and honor and glory and might forever and ever!" And the four living creatures said, "Amen!" and the elders fell down and worshiped.
Were it not for Jesus we would not be able to enjoy heaven or get there at all.
Do we have to wait until we die to get to heaven? Can we experience a forestaste of heaven?
Hebrews 10:19-25 ESV
Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus, by the new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain, that is, through his flesh, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.
DO NOT NEGLECT MEETING WITH YOUR LOCAL CHURCH!!!
1) When we gather we have great priveleges granted to us by grace equally throughout all the churches.
Hebrews 9:24 ESV
"For Christ has entered, not into holy places made with hands, which are copies of the true things, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God on our behalf."
When we gather with our local church we are experiencing heaven on earth; we expereince heavebs presence on earth. Sinful people like us have no right to have communion with God. By Christs blood we can go to a place of direct communion with God.
What should amaze me most about my local church?
Jesus atitude is sympathetic. He identifies with our needs as one who has experienced our troubles, and experienced them without sin. When not going to church you miss the opportunity to enjoy a unique presence Christ has given to the church.
2) We have great responsibilities
Noww that Jesus has sacrificed himself do we need go make sacrifices any more? We show our thanksgiving by praising Christ for his sacrifice.
Hebrews 4:16 ESV
"Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need." Wwe have CONFIDENCE to draw near to Christ."
Psalm 40:17 ESV
"As for me, I am poor and needy,
but the Lord takes thought for me.
You are my help and my deliverer;
do not delay, O my God! "
We gather to get a firmer grip on the gospel.
We gather to look for ways to serve. God works through our wwork, loves through our love, cares through our cares. We go with needs and give with serving.
1) What do you look forward to the most when you gather with your local church?
2) How should gathering with local church make us look forward to heaven?
3) When is the last time I recal God caring for I through the care of someone else? Thank God and them for that care and seek to care for others?
