What is So Radically Different About Followers of Jesus Christ? Luke 6:27-33
Because we love those who do not love us. Luke 6:27 But I say unto you which hear, love your enemies, do good to them which hate you. Our enemies are those who hate us for Jesus sake. Three Big demands for Jesus followers : 1. Be lovers (love your enemies. Love is not passive, it's active) 2. Be a doer (do good to them that hate you) 3. Be a giver (give to every man that ask of you and of him that taketh away thy goods ask them not again). Refuse to defend your honor and pride if you're one of my disciples. Jesus is erasing the line between enemies and friends. When you do something, don't do it to get something. WE are the church. As followers, we suffer as a community. Each member of Jesus community has specific responsibilities. We must die to self and sin. Jesus takes conventional wisdom and turns it upside down-again. Our Golden Rule has no strings attached. Jesus said ''do unto people as you would have them do unto you''. Period. Is their tangible evidence by the way we treatment others that we are followers of Christ?
