Emotionally Healthy People: Part 1 – Jesus, the Most Emotionally Healthy Person I’ve Ever Met
What God is saying to us about emotions:
They are signpost of how we are really doing. Cant be mature until you live from the inside out…not the outside in….He wants to speak to us at that point and reveal things to us and heal us.
Let’s start by looking at Jesus – the most emotionally healthy person I know.
Jesus taught on emotions
Matthew 5:3- Blessed are the poor in Spirit.
Rom. 12:15- rejoice with those who rejoice and weep with those who weep.
Matt 11:28- come to me, all who are weary and heavy laden
Jesus felt emotions
Matthew 26:38 (Garden of Gasthemane) - 38 He told them, “My soul is crushed with grief to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with me.”
Jesus connected with others’ emotions
John 11:35 – Jesus wept
Luke 10:38-42- Martha Martha, you are worried and bothered about so many things.
Jesus was emotionally mature
John 2:12-17 – Jesus made a scourge of cords and went into the temple and drove out the money changers
Matthew 23:37-39- Jesus mourns for Jerusalem
Matthew 14:13- Jesus withdrew alone after John’s arrest
John 11:33- Deeply troubled over mary’s grief, 12:27, 13:21- deeply troubled over Judas,
Heb 4:14-15- He felt the temptation of sin
