Even though Easter has come and gone, it is never really gone. Easter is every Sunday! Today we are looking at an event that took place on Sunday afternoon right after the Resurrection. Two disciples of Christ, not part of the twelve disciples but followers and well known to the twelve, were leaving Jerusalem on their way back to their home in Emmaus.
1. Walking in despair and disappointment - v.13-19

What has caused you to become disappointed and pushed you into despair?
Why doesn’t God do something about all our problems if He cares and loves us like He says?
2. Walking in unbelief - v.19-24

What did the two men walking to Emmaus mean when they said, “...but we had hoped that He was the one who was going to redeem Israel?”
Why did they not believe what the women said to be true?
What are the expectations that you have for the Savior and Redeemer?
Have you struggled with your faith during these last few weeks?
Are there reasons for you to have questions whether the Lord really cares about you and your troubles?
3. Walking in ignorance - v. 25-29

Are you also foolish and slow to believe what the Word of God has said about Jesus?
Read these verses and ponder over them and decide what they have to do with Jesus as the Christ, the Messiah of God?
Genesis 3:15
Genesis 12
Isaiah 53
Zechariah 9; 12:10; 13
Psalm 22:1-5
Psalm 110
Psalm 111:9
Jeremiah 31
Malachi 3
4. Walking in the light - v. 30-35

In showing Himself to be Jesus and then disappearing, they said that their hearts burned as they listened to Him speak and as He shared scriptures with them. When last has it been since your heart “burned” in reading the scriptures about the Lord Jesus Christ? If your heart has not burned, why hasn’t it, what is wrong?
Have you ever been so excited about seeing Jesus work in your life or meeting Him face to face, that you have shouted with joy and wanted to tell others what had happened to you?
Are your blinded eyes finally opened about who Jesus is and what He has done for you and what He will still do for you?
Are you ready to tell others of your encounter with the Lord Jesus Christ and what He has done for you?

Invitation

Dear friend if you are reading this by way of the internet please know that you are loved and cared for. If you have no relationship with God the Father through Jesus Christ His Son, then I invite you to trust Him by faith and receive Him as your personal Savior. Jesus Christ died on the cross for the sin of everyone in the world that they may have eternal life. All of us have sinned and all are guilty before Almighty God who made us to have fellowship with Him. But sin broke that ability to have a relationship and Jesus has restored the possibility to know God personally through His sacrifice. Please know that if you will seek God and turn from your sin and pray He will respond with His love and give to you a personal relationship through your belief in His Son and the sacrifice He made just for you. He will call for a change in your life too. He wants you to follow Him, not the world, not your own desires, but to follow Jesus. That brings a life change when you turn from sin and self and by faith believe in Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord. There is no Savior without Him being Lord of your life. Your willingness to change by following Him daily in your life will be the proof of your faith. When life throws its curves your way and you have found yourself broken by others or by the world let us introduce you to the only One who can help you…Jesus! You can write or call the office and we will follow up by contacting you.
