Jesus’ Last Word

τετἐλεσται: “It has been finished”
“He has done it”

(compare Ps 22:31: אשה / ἐποίησεν)
Rev 2:18-29

18 And for the angel of the church in Thyatira write these things: “The Son of God, the one having his eyes as flaming fire, and his feet like bronze says, 19 ‘I know your deeds, both your love and allegiance, both your righteousness and obedience, and your last deeds (are) greater than the first ones. 20 But I have against you this: you allow in the woman, Jezebel, the one who calls herself a prophetess, she both teaches and deceives my servants to engage in sexual immorality and to eat idol food. 21 And I have given her time that she might repent, and she has not desired to repent from her sexual immorality. 22 Behold, I will throw her onto a couch, and those committing adultery with her into a great hardship, unless they repent of their deeds with her. 23 And her children I will condemn in death; and, all the churches will know that I am the haruspex interpreting minds and hearts, and I will give to each of you all according to your deeds. 24 Moreover, I say to those remaining in Thyatira, the many who are not holding to this teaching, who do not know ‘the depths of Satan,’ as they say, I will not throw upon you all another burden; 25 Nevertheless, that which you hold to, cling (to it) until I shall come. 26 And the one overcoming and keeping firm until my final deeds, I will give to him authority over the nations, 27 and he will shepherd them with an iron staff—as clay pots they will be shattered!—28 I also received from my father, and I will give to him the morning star. 29 The one having ears, let him hear. What does the Spirit say to the churches?’”

Wesley’s 22 Questions

1) Am I consciously or unconsciously creating the impression that I am better than I really am? In other words, am I a hypocrite?

2) Am I honest in all my acts and words, or do I exaggerate? I trust you can see how this gets underneath your skin, so to speak, and asks you to take a reading of your inner spirituality.
