The aim of Proverbs 1-9 has been to accent wisdom’s worth,
attracting the young students to pursue it. This chapter is the
core course in the teacher’s curriculum.
Wisdom’s call is public.
There can be no true discipleship that is only private.
The three imperatives:
 Understanding prudence (good judgement)
 Be of an understanding heart
 Learn to listen
1. Propositions from the greedy- Proverbs 1:10-19
2. From men of lying lips- Proverbs 2:12-15
3. From women of smooth words- Proverbs 2:16-19
4. From perverters of righteousness- Proverbs 4:14-17
5. From those who sow discord- Proverbs 6:12-15
Wisdom’s call is purposeful. Understanding and knowledge are
its goals—the knowledge of God in His gifts of grace and His
demands of obedience.
The fear of the Lord prompts us to hate evil, especially the evil
of pride and arrogance.
Counsel is the ability to make decisions and shape plans that
will have beneficial outcomes to all involved.
Wisdom’s rewards:
1. Wisdom’s love of those who value her.
2. She makes herself available to all who pursue her.
3. Their welfare is her aim

Detailed in spectacular terms—riches, honor and
righteousness, which means victorious success.
Proverbs 8:22-29 & 35-36 affirm the deity and pre-existence of
Jesus Christ.
Wisdom has made her case; they now must make their choices.
Discipleship is not just studying; it is making decisions.
Joy bringing success is what she promised. Blessed or happy is
one of the Hebrews’ most comprehensive words for human well
being.
Verse 35 states the positive results of choosing wisdom
Verse 36 the negative results of not choosing wisdom.

Wisdom like Joshua 24 says: Choose this day whom you will serve.
Both make clear the consequences.
