“What are evidences of the Holy Spirit moving amongst a people?”

APPLICATION QUESTIONS:
1. Share with the group a thing or an activity that you daily “devote” yourself to. Is the commitment to be ‘devoted’ to this activity difficult or easy? What did the believers in the early church “devote” themselves to (v. 42)?
2. Repentance is a message most people do not like to hear. Read the following Scriptures and discuss what repentance is, why it is necessary, and its importance in the Scriptures. What happens if we do not repent? Job 42:6; Psalm 51:17; Isaiah 55:7; Ezekiel 18:23; Mark 1:4, 15; Luke 3:3, 5:32, 13:3, 24:47.
3. Books on church-planting, church-growth, and church life are in vogue. Review Acts 2:42-47 and discuss the tips or principles does our text set forth for the church, its day-to-day life, and its growth. What kind of church fellowship is described in this text? How is it like and how is it different from our own church fellowship? What challenges do we face in modeling the Acts 2 church?
4. A prominent feature of this text is that as the new life of faith is formed, there is an accompanying hunger for the Word. New life in Christ Jesus always expresses itself in the desire, as Peter puts it, for “the pure milk of the word, so that by it you may grow in respect to salvation” (1 Pet. 2:2). Do you have this desire for the Word of God and are you growing in the word (2 Peter 3:18)?
5. Prayer was a priority in the early church. Reflect on your own prayer habits as well as our church’s. How can we better emulate the early church? How are we doing in this vital area?
6. Read the following texts and again consider the characteristics of the infant church and their worship: Colossians 3:16; Hebrews 10:24-25. In today’s “busy” life, church and Christian fellowship has become at best a “once a week” endeavor. What steps can be taken to build more true, authentic fellowship amongst believers?
